2006 Proprietor's Red

2006 Proprietor's Red

ElRoy Proprietor’s Red is traditionally a blend based on Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Sparked by partners J2C3M, the 2006 vintage is enhanced with Cabernet Franc, Syrah, and Malbec grapes from three prominent vineyards in Sonoma’s Alexander Valley, including Rezonja and Farrow Ranch. The wine was aged in both French and American oak barrels for a minimum of 12 months. The different oaks and grape varietals have shaped a rich, complex wine.

ElRoy’s unique blend of classic Bordeaux varieties is combined with traditional hillside-grown Rhone varieties to form a dark, rich wine with flavors of black currant, strawberry, and spice.

ElRoy wines are blends, typically Cabernet Sauvignon-based, produced by Draxton Wines. The first vintage of ElRoy Proprietor’s Red was produced in 1996. Over the years, Syrah, Merlot, and Malbec have been used as blending components -- but never in the same combination. The result is maximum quality, complexity, creativity, and fun. The current release, 2006, is approximately 86% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc, with the balance being Malbec and Syrah.

Draxton Wines has produced other wines under both the ElRoy and Draxton labels, such as Draxton Merlot, Draxton Malbec, Draxton Sauvignon Blanc, and ElRoy White. All wines produced have been estate-grown or purchased grapes from the Alexander Valley. Empowered by the partner group J2C3M, Draxton Wines is now venturing into other appellations.

Coming attractions include several wines currently under construction: Draxton Varietals (Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Sauvignon Blanc), and ElRoy Proprietor’s White (Sauvignon Blanc blend). All wines under construction are subject to winemakers’ approval and consumers’ interest prior to release.
